The Bharatiya Janata Party-BJP in Assam has embarked on an ambitious initiative to conduct a comprehensive socio-economic survey across polling booths, gathering insights from voters on various beneficiary schemes. Party workers and leaders will fan out to every polling booth to engage with citizens and compile feedback on schemes such as the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission, alongside the State Government initiatives like Orunoday and others.
A senior BJP leader revealed, “Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has assigned specific tasks to party workers for direct engagement at the grassroots level. Instead of operating solely from district headquarters, leaders will be actively present at polling booths to gather essential data during the campaign.”
The survey will be facilitated through a specially designed five-point form, enabling the collection of vital information on infrastructural needs, distribution of government benefits to ration card holders, and other pertinent socio-economic indicators. The compiled data will be organised at district BJP offices and subsequently submitted to the State Government post-elections.
Highlighting BJP’s confidence in the upcoming elections, Dr Himanta stated, “The BJP’s victory is assured, with Narendra Modi set to assume office as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. However, our focus during the campaign is to outline a robust development agenda for the State post-elections.”
In line with this proactive approach, the BJP has fielded candidates in 11 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, with its allies, including the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), contesting the remaining three seats. This concerted effort underscores the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement and data-driven governance, aiming to address the needs and aspirations of the electorate effectively.
