On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ‘Startup Mahakumbh’ on at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi–a three-day event organised by the government to bolster the startup ecosystem and attract investments in the sector.
PM Modi pointed out that huge business events are generally not organised just before major elections, and tried to guess why businessmen organised the programme after the announcement of poll dates.
He said, ‘Your team is organising such a big event here. Generally, the businessman’s mind thinks that it is the election year, let it be, we will see once the elections are over and a new government will be formed. But you are organising such a big program even after the elections have been declared. This means that you know what is going to happen in the next 5 years?’
‘While strolling along the stalls and watching your invention at the venue, I could feel the vibe that Bharat’s future holds many Unicorns and Decacorns’, said PM Modi.
PM Modi said that if today Bharat has emerged as a new hope, a new strength for the global start-up space, then there has been a well-thought-out vision behind it.
‘Bharat has taken the right decisions at the right time and started work on start-ups at the right time’, he added.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘Bharat has emerged as the world’s third largest startup ecosystem with over 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns, and is charting a roadmap for becoming a developed country with right decisions’. Speaking at the Startup Mahakumbh event, Modi said India’s startup ecosystem is not limited to metro cities, it has now become a social culture.
Modi promised to make Bharat the world’s third-largest economy in his third term and asserted that startups will play a major role in Bharat’s progress.
