In a startling turn of events, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the esteemed spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, underwent a critical surgery at a hospital in Delhi to address a life-threatening brain bleed. The Isha Foundation released a statement confirming the surgery and subsequent recovery, stating that Sadhguru’s condition is improving “beyond expectations.”
In a light-hearted moment captured from his hospital bed, Sadhguru jests about the surgical procedure, remarking, “The Apollo hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull and tried to find something. But they found nothing… totally empty.” Despite the humor, the gravity of the situation is evident.
Reports indicate that Sadhguru had been enduring severe headaches for the past four weeks, persisting with his rigorous schedule and even overseeing the nightlong MahaShivRatri celebrations on March 8, 2024. However, the headaches intensified upon his arrival in Delhi on March 14, prompting urgent medical attention.
On the advice of Dr. Vinit Suri from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Sadhguru underwent an MRI, revealing a massive bleed in his brain, compounded by chronic and fresh bleeding leading up to the examination.
Despite his deteriorating condition, Sadhguru initially declined hospitalization, prioritizing his pending commitments. However, by March 17, his health significantly worsened, manifesting weakness in his left leg, exacerbated headaches, and persistent vomiting, necessitating immediate admission.
Upon admission, a CT scan revealed alarming brain swelling and a life-threatening shift in brain positioning. Without delay, Sadhguru underwent emergency brain surgery to alleviate the bleeding, and thankfully, he was successfully weaned off the ventilator post-operation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to Sadhguru, extending his heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery. In a statement, PM Modi conveyed, “Spoke to Sadhguru Ji and wished him good health and a speedy recovery.”
