On Wednesday, Ashwin Ramaswami, announced that he is officially launching his campaign as the Democratic nominee in the United States state of Georgia for a seat in the Senate ahead of the upcoming election.
He is the first Generation Z Bharatiya-American who would pursue a state or federal legislative position in the United States.
“Today, I officially launched my General Election campaign as the Democratic nominee for GA State Senate District 48,” said Ramaswami, in a post on X.
Hailing from Tamil Nadu immigrants who arrived in the United States in 1990, Ramaswami’s bid symbolizes the rise of a fresh cohort of young leaders within the community.
Having worked with nonprofits, startups, and governmental agencies, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Ramaswami brings a wealth of experience in utilizing technology to address societal challenges.
