Notably, the mineral-rich Balochistan region, including Gwadar Port, is where China has made large investments encompassing roads and various energy projects. While the reports suggested that Baloch gunmen stormed the complex in a rugged southwestern province, accommodating various Pakistan government agencies, it is the decades-old rebel movement in Balochistan that accuses the Pakistani government of neglecting its residents and unfair distribution of resources.
