The much-awaited Ram Mandir Rath Yatra is set to commence from Chicago on Monday, embarking on a journey that spans across 48 states in the USA. Organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), the yatra will cover a staggering distance of over 8,000 miles, visiting 851 temples over the course of 60 days.
The centerpiece of the yatra is a specially constructed chariot, fashioned from a Toyota Sienna van, which will carry statues of revered deities including Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman. Additionally, the chariot will be adorned with special prasadam from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and kalash of Prana Pratishtha Pujit Akshat.
Amitabh Mittal, the general secretary of VHPA, expressed the significance of the Ram Mandir inauguration, stating that it has evoked immense joy among over 1.5 billion Hindus worldwide, fostering a renewed sense of faith and energy within the community.
The yatra holds a dual purpose of both celebration and education. Tejal Shah of the Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council (HMEC) emphasized that the primary objective is to raise awareness, educate, and empower Hindu Dharma. The yatra aims to unite Hindus from all walks of life, fostering a revival of Hindu ethos and values.
With the support of several dozen volunteers, the VHPA has meticulously planned and organized the yatra, marking a historic moment for the Hindu community in the USA. It’s the first time such a comprehensive yatra has been undertaken, encompassing over 800 temples throughout the country.
The culmination of the yatra is scheduled for April 23, coinciding with the auspicious day of Shree Hanuman Jayanti, in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Notably, the yatra will visit not only major temples but also smaller ones, ensuring inclusivity and representation across the spectrum of Hindu communities.
In recognition of their participation in the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremonies, temples across the USA will be presented with certificates of participation. This gesture serves as a token of appreciation and gratitude, further fostering unity and solidarity within the Hindu community.
Tejal Shah reiterated the importance of staying united in the campaign to raise awareness and spread Hindu Dharma globally, especially for future generations. The yatra is not only a symbol of devotion but also a testament to the rich cultural heritage and traditions upheld by Hindus worldwide.
