Despite challenging weather conditions and a tight schedule ahead of Bharat’s Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled his promise to visit Bhutan, earning praise and gratitude from Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Tobgay expressed his appreciation, referring to Modi’s commitment as the “Modi Ki Guarantee” phenomenon.
In a heartfelt acknowledgment on social media platform X, Prime Minister Tobgay extended his gratitude to Modi for prioritizing the visit to the Himalayan nation despite adverse weather and other obligations. Modi’s visit, initially postponed due to inclement weather, was rescheduled, demonstrating the depth of the bilateral relationship.
Prime Minister Modi, upon his departure from Bhutan, reciprocated the warm hospitality extended to him by Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tobgay. Notably, King Wangchuck and Tobgay personally saw off Modi at Paro International Airport, symbolizing the close ties between the two nations.
During his stay in Bhutan, Prime Minister Modi emphasized Bharat’s unwavering commitment to being a reliable friend and partner for Bhutan. He described the visit as “very special” and highlighted the significance of the India-Bhutan friendship in strengthening regional cooperation and development.
In a historic moment, Prime Minister Modi was conferred with Bhutan’s highest civilian honor, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, making him the first foreign dignitary to receive this prestigious award. This gesture underscores the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between Bharat and Bhutan.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit was marked by significant commitments towards Bhutan’s development, including a pledge of ₹10,000 crore for Bhutan’s 13th five-year plan.
