A devastating accident on Golf Course Road in Gurugram has left a 27-year-old man dead after he lost control of his superbike early on Friday morning. The victim, identified as Rituj Beniwal, a resident of Sushant Lok 1 in Sector 43, was riding his black Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 when the incident occurred around 6:10 am, according to police officers familiar with the case.
Police reports indicate that Beniwal’s motorcycle collided with the divider and a street light pole, resulting in a fatal outcome. The impact was so severe that Beniwal’s body was tragically severed in half, and the superbike itself broke apart. Initial investigations suggest that Beniwal was traveling at a high speed, estimated to be around 130-140kmph at the time of the accident.
Details surrounding the case reveal that Beniwal, originally from Jaipur, had pursued his education at IIT-Kanpur, obtaining both a BTech and MTech degree. He had been employed at Logic Fruit Technologies in Gurugram for the past three years. Beniwal, described as a motorbike enthusiast, often indulged in joyrides on weekends and holidays, according to his flatmate Shantam Sharma.
On the fateful day, which coincided with the Good Friday holiday, Beniwal left his residence equipped with biking gear, including a helmet and gloves, heading towards Golf Course Road. Tragically, within minutes of his departure, the accident occurred, resulting in his untimely demise.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (east), Mayank Gupta, provided further insights into the incident, stating that the crash occurred approximately 200 meters away from the entrance to Belvedere Towers. Gupta elaborated that Beniwal lost control of his vehicle while speeding along the main lane of Golf Course Road, ultimately colliding with the divider and street light pole.
Eye-witness accounts from Virender Sharma, a security officer at a nearby condominium, corroborated the severity of the incident. Sharma recounted hearing the crash and promptly dispatching a security team to the scene. Unfortunately, Beniwal was pronounced dead upon their arrival, prompting immediate notification to the authorities.
In the aftermath of the accident, police officials conducted inquiries, revealing that Beniwal’s family harbored no suspicions of foul play and had not filed a First Information Report (FIR). Senior police officers indicated that an inquiry was underway based on statements provided by Beniwal’s father, Ajeet Beniwal.
Captain Bobby Singh Sehgal, head of Riders of Storm Forever, a motorcycle club based in Gurugram, shed light on the prevalent issue of superbike accidents. Sehgal emphasized that many such incidents occur due to speeding, urging for stricter regulations akin to those observed in other countries, where separate driving licenses are issued for superbike owners.
The tragic loss of Rituj Beniwal serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers associated with high-speed motorbike riding, prompting calls for increased awareness and safety measures within the community.
