Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a series of activities aimed at bolstering support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the looming Lok Sabha elections. His itinerary includes addressing a public gathering in Muzaffarnagar and convening a closed-door session with the Lok Sabha Core Group in Moradabad. These efforts underscore the BJP’s commitment to engaging with voters and addressing their concerns as the elections draw near.
Shah’s first stop will be at the National Inter College Ground in Shahpur, Muzaffarnagar, where he will deliver a speech to rally supporters and emphasize the state’s significance in the political landscape. Following this, he will lead discussions with the Lok Sabha Core Group at Hotel MB Greens Clarks in Moradabad, focusing on election strategies and key priorities for Uttar Pradesh.
With the general elections slated to commence on April 19, India is gearing up for a seven-phase voting process spanning from April to June. Uttar Pradesh, boasting the largest contingent of Members of Parliament (MPs) at 80, will play a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of the elections. The state will participate in all seven phases of polling, with constituencies like Saharanpur, Kairana, and Muzaffarnagar set to vote in the initial phases.
As the election progresses, the number of constituencies going to the polls in Uttar Pradesh will increase. Key areas such as Rae Bareli, Amethi, and Varanasi will witness voting in later phases, highlighting the state’s significance in determining the electoral landscape. The fierce battle for dominance in Uttar Pradesh will see the BJP, the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance competing for seats.
In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP emerged victorious in 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh, with its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) securing one seat. Meanwhile, the SP-BSP alliance clinched 16 seats, setting the stage for a closely contested electoral contest in the upcoming polls. As the countdown to the elections begins, all eyes are on Uttar Pradesh as parties intensify their campaign efforts to secure the support of voters across the state.
