However, amidst these efforts, concerns regarding the safety of Bharatiya students studying in the United States have been raised. Multiple distressing incidents involving Bharatiya nationals or people of Bharatiya origin have been reported lately. US Ambassador to Bharat, Eric Garcetti, addressed these concerns, urging students to remain vigilant and take appropriate safety precautions.
Garcetti emphasized the importance of staying connected with peers and utilizing campus safety resources to enhance awareness and preparedness. In a recent interview with ANI, he acknowledged the distressing incidents involving Indian students, attributing them to statistical probabilities in a country of the United States’ scale.
As many as five Bharatiya students were reported dead in separate incidents in the first two months of 2024. These incidents have underscored the need for increased vigilance and safety measures among Indian students studying in the United States.
In light of these developments, the Bharatiya Embassy’s efforts to promote collaboration in education between India and the United States take on added significance. While enhancing academic partnerships, it is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of Indian students pursuing their education abroad.
