Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur, expressed praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda for outlining a clear vision for the future of the party. Thakur highlighted the leadership’s foresight during the unveiling of the BJP’s poll manifesto, titled “Modi ki Guarantee,” which emphasizes more development, women’s welfare, and the ambition for a “Viksit Bharat” (developed India).
The manifesto, presented on Sunday, promises initiatives like ‘One Nation, One Election’ and the establishment of a “single electoral roll.” Additionally, the BJP aims to elevate Bharat to the status of the world’s third-largest economy and transform it into a “global manufacturing hub.”
A significant focus of the manifesto is the empowerment of farmers, with the BJP asserting its commitment to their dignity and well-being. The party highlighted various measures already taken, such as providing soil health cards, micro-irrigation systems, crop insurance, and direct financial assistance through the PM Kisan Samman Yojana. Moreover, the BJP pledges to continue supporting farmers, including through time-to-time increases in the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The manifesto launch event witnessed the presence of top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and party President JP Nadda.
In the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, a fierce contest is expected between the Congress party and the BJP. The Congress has nominated Vikramaditya Singh, the son of six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, as its candidate. Meanwhile, the BJP has chosen Kangana Ranaut as its candidate for the same seat.
The election in the four parliamentary constituencies of Himachal Pradesh is scheduled for June 1, with the voting results set to be announced on June 4.
