The Biden administration declared that Bharat was a significant strategic partner of the US and further added that the status of the relationship is expected to remain unchanged.
On Monday Mathew Miller, US State Department spokesperson was responding to a question at a press conference on the US-Bharat relationship in the context of some articles and opinion pieces critical of the Bharatiya government published ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Bharat.
To a question on alleged concerns about democratic backsliding in Bharat and the recent statements by the State Department about the alleged crackdown on the opposition, Miller said, ‘Bharat is the world’s largest democracy. It is an important strategic partner of the United States and I expect that to remain true.
In the recent past US officials have called Bharat a very important partner and that the relationship between the two countries continues to grow.
