Bharat achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday as it successfully test-fired a new version of a medium-range ballistic missile, as reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI). Bharat Delivers Fourth Battery of BrahMos Missiles to Philippines Amidst Tensions
Bharat’s defense prowess and regional cooperation, the nation delivered the fourth ‘battery’ of land-based BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines. Against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the South China Sea due to Chinese assertions, this delivery bears strategic significance.
The consignment, transported via an Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster, arrived in Manila, marking a tangible step in bolstering the Philippines’ defense capabilities.
Each battery comprises four launchers housing three BrahMos missiles with a range of 290 kilometers. Mounted on mobile platforms, these launchers improve survivability and serve as a potent conventional deterrent.
Noting, the BrahMos missile’s supersonic velocity renders it exceedingly challenging to intercept for land or ship-based Ballistic Missile Defence (BMDs) systems, thereby augmenting the defensive capabilities of the receiving nation.
