There has been a good increase in voter turnout in Tripura, as the North-Eastern state recorded a 36.42 % voting percentage till 11 am, according to the Election Commission of India.
Other states including Chhattisgarh, Manipur and West Bengal record 35.47 %, 33.32 % and 31.25 % respectively.
Voting percentages for other states participating in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls at 11 am are Assam- 27.43 %, Bihar – 21.68 %, Jammu and Kashmir – 26.61 %, Karnataka – 22.34 %, Kerala – 25.61 %, Madhya Pradesh -28.15 %, Rajasthan- 26.84 %, and Uttar Pradesh- 24.31%.
Meanwhile, voting for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 started at 7:00 am on Friday across 88 Parliamentary Constituencies spread over 12 States and Union Territories.
Meanwhile, PM Modi called the people to cast their votes in record numbers in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls being held today and stated a high voter turnout strengthens democracy. Modi urged the young voters and women voters to turn up at the polling booths in record numbers.
The prime minister said on X, ‘Urging everyone in constituencies voting today, in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, to participate in record numbers. A high voter turnout strengthens our democracy. I especially urge our young voters and women voters to turn out in great numbers Your vote is your voice!’.
