As the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 entered its second phase, at 11 am, a voter turnout of 25.1% was tallied across 13 states and union territories. Notably, Chhattisgarh and Tripura surpassed the mark with over 35% turnout, while Maharashtra lagged behind with the lowest turnout of over 18.8%.

Pertinently, while polling is underway, the Supreme Court delivered a significant verdict regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Rejecting all petitions calling for a comprehensive verification of EVM votes with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips, SC stated, “All appeals advocating the return of ballot papers have been turned down.” The decision was delivered by a two-judge bench led by Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta.
The second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 kicked off today for 88 parliamentary constituencies across 13 states and union territories going to polls today. Voting commenced in these 13 states at 7 am and will conclude at 5 pm, while an extra hour will be provided as a buffer period for voters who are already present in the voting line. Results for all the phases will be out on June 7
