Recently at Lok Sabha election rally in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Despite this, he expressed his deep affection for the people of the state.
He remarked on the large turnout at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally in Malda, saying, “Your love makes me think that I was born in Bengal in my last life or my next birth will be in Bengal.”
Modi apologized for any inconvenience caused by the overwhelming number of attendees, promising to reciprocate their affection through development initiatives. He specifically addressed the recent controversy surrounding the cancellation of approximately 26,000 jobs in West Bengal due to a high court order.
Modi criticized the TMC for its involvement in what he called a “cut-and-commission” culture, which he stated has harmed the youth of the state.
He highlighted how the TMC’s alleged scams have not only jeopardized the future of Bengal’s youth but have also negatively impacted thousands of families. Modi also highlighted a teacher recruitment scam that affected around 26,000 families, condemning the party for playing with the state’s future.
Turning his attention to women voters, particularly in minority-dominated districts like Malda, Modi accused the TMC of betraying Muslim sisters by opposing the abolition of triple talaq. He criticized the state government’s response to recent allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders in Sandeshkhali, alleging apathy towards the victims.
Modi also addressed the controversy surrounding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), accusing the Congress and the TMC of spreading misinformation about it. He clarified that the CAA is about granting citizenship and not taking it away, specifically mentioning Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist refugees facing religious persecution.
Furthermore, Modi seized on recent remarks by Congress leader Sam Pitroda regarding inheritance tax, accusing the Congress and its allies of planning to take away the wealth of hardworking individuals. He criticized both the Congress and the TMC for engaging in what he described as appeasement politics.
Additionally, Modi alleged that the TMC leaders were diverting funds sent by the Centre for development projects in Bengal for their own benefit. Despite these challenges, Modi expressed confidence in the electorate and optimism for favorable outcomes for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He predicted further setbacks for parties like the Congress and the TMC, which he claimed were decimated in the first phase of elections and would suffer similar losses in the second phase.
