Dabolim airport in South Goa was recently shaken by an alarming email regarding a potential bomb threat, causing authorities to escalate security measures on Monday. Despite the unsettling development, flight operations at the Goa airport remain uninterrupted, as confirmed by a senior official.
According to the airport director, S V T Dhanamjaya Rao, the concerning email was received by their office in the morning, explicitly mentioning a bomb threat targeting the airport. In response, airport authorities have bolstered security protocols while ensuring that flights continue to operate smoothly.
“We are taking extra precautions now. While security has been heightened at the airport, the flight operations are unaffected,” stated Rao in a conversation with news agency PTI.
Upon receipt of the threat, Goa police were promptly informed by airport officials, initiating a formal complaint procedure. The police, in collaboration with the bomb disposal squad, commenced thorough inspections of the airport premises to ensure safety and security for all passengers and personnel.
A police official emphasized their commitment to leaving no stone unturned in investigating the threat, stating, “We are not leaving any stone unturned. We are working as per the prescribed protocol.”
