A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, affirmed the importance of the consultation, emphasizing its role in reviewing the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation. The discussions ranged from economic ties to shared approaches in addressing regional and international challenges.

Through this platform, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties based on common values and interests.

The relationship between Bharat and Sweden is underpinned by a robust framework of collaboration encompassing various sectors such as business, investment, and research and development. Over the years, the two countries have fostered a strong partnership, aligned in their endeavors to tackle world issues such as peace, security, and development.

The year 2023 marked a significant milestone as it commemorated 75 years of diplomatic relations between Bharat and Sweden. Established in 1948, these diplomatic ties have only grown stronger with time, reflecting the shared commitment to mutual prosperity and progress.

The extensive ministerial exchanges between the two nations throughout the year underscored the depth of engagement and the eagerness to further enhance cooperation across multiple domains.

In 2023 alone, there were four ministerial visits from Sweden, covering key areas such as Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Infrastructure, and Finance. Bharat’s External Affairs Minister also visited Sweden in May 2023, further reinforcing the high-level engagements between both the nations.

In addition, various ministerial interactions spanning from November 2022 to October 2023 showcased the sustained efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues of collaboration.

The 7th Bharat-Sweden FOC serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two countries, rooted in shared values, common interests, and a commitment to addressing global challenges collectively.

As Bharat and Sweden continue to strengthen their ties, the consultation in Stockholm reaffirms their resolve to further advance cooperation and contribute to regional and global peace, security, and prosperity.
