Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha unveiled plans for a significant advancement in healthcare within the State during his recent visit to GB Pant Hospital. He announced that the hospital would soon offer kidney transplant procedures.

CM Saha’s visit to GB Pant Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) showcased ongoing progress and initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare services. He emphasized the hospital’s transformation, which includes the establishment of seven new super-speciality outpatient departments and wards.

“We are committed to expediting these developments to ensure comprehensive care under one roof,” CM Saha affirmed, expressing satisfaction with the pace of improvements.

Addressing concerns about water quality at the hospital, the CM revealed plans to install an iron removal plant to address high iron content in the water. “We recognize the water quality issue at GB Pant and are exploring solutions such as installing an iron removal plant. Our goal is to establish this hospital as a centre of excellence,” CM Saha declared, highlighting the commitment to enhancing infrastructure.

The CM provided updates on the forthcoming kidney transplant facilities, indicating that doctors and staff have received training and preparations are underway for the facility’s opening. This development is expected to alleviate the need for patients to seek treatment outside the State.

Furthermore, he conducted a comprehensive review of the hospital’s neurosurgery and nephrology departments, engaging in discussions on medication, equipment maintenance, and quality control with healthcare professionals.

The introduction of kidney transplant services and the implementation of an iron removal plant are part of the government’s broader healthcare improvement strategy. The CM assured coordination with relevant departments to expedite pending works efficiently.
