Manipur Schools & Colleges Closed On May 6, 7 Due To Hailstorm Alert, CM N Biren Singh Confirms

In a statement shared on X, CM Biren Singh mentioned, “All schools and colleges will remain closed on May 6 and May 7, due to the prevailing weather conditions in the State. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the risks posed by the current weather conditions. I urge all to stay updated and remain safe indoors. The State Government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives & properties and assist those who have been affected.”

Assuring the citizens of the State, he reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties and providing assistance to those affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Prior to this announcement, the State Government had issued a notice requesting the general public to report damages caused by the hailstorm on May 5, providing details and photographs depicting the extent of the damage resulting from the extreme weather conditions.

In his efforts to extend support to the victims, CM Biren Singh ensured government assistance and immediate aid. Additionally, helpline numbers were made available for various districts affected by the intense climatic conditions.

On X, he wrote, “In the wake of the recent hailstorm impacting numerous areas across Manipur, our priority is ensuring swift assistance for those in need. To extend support, we’ve established helpline numbers in various districts. Your safety is our priority. Please reach out without hesitation if you require assistance. We’re here to support you through this challenging time.”
