Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has made a significant recommendation for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The recommendation is based on allegations that Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accepted political funding from a banned Sikh Separtarist terror outfit known as ‘Sikhs for Justice’.
The LG’s action follows a complaint filed by Ashoo Mongia, the national general secretary of the World Hindu Federation of Bharat.
Mongia’s complaint claims that the AAP received a substantial amount of $16 million from the Sikh Separtarist group. The alleged purpose of this funding was to facilitate the release of Devendra Pal Bhullar, a convict in the 1993 Delhi bomb blasts case, and to promote Sikh Separtarist sentiments.
In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the principal secretary to LG Saxena noted the complaint’s reference to a video purportedly featuring Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the founder of the banned organization Sikhs For Justice.
Pannun allegedly accuses the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, of receiving the significant funding from Khalistani groups between 2014 and 2022.
The letter also mentions a clandestine meeting supposedly held between Arvind Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani Sikhs at Gurudwara Richmond Hills in New York back in 2014.
According to the accusation, during this meeting, Kejriwal purportedly promised to facilitate the release of Devender Pal Bhullar in exchange for financial support from Sikh Separtarist outfits to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Devendra Pal Bhullar’s involvement in the 1993 Delhi bomb blasts case adds gravity to the allegations against Kejriwal and his party. The case is a painful reminder of the devastating impact of terrorism on the country’s capital.
The recommendation for an NIA probe by the Delhi LG underscores the seriousness of the allegations against Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP. If the probe proceeds, it could have impactful implications for the political landscape in Delhi and beyond, especially as Bharat continues to grapple with issues related to national security and terrorism.
Both Kejriwal and the AAP are yet to respond to these allegations. However, given the gravity of the accusations and the potential legal ramifications, their response will be closely watched by political observers and the public alike.
