As the Lok Sabha elections 2024 roll-on, banks across various cities and towns in Bharat are set to remain closed on May 7th. This closure comes as voting for the third phase of the elections is scheduled to take place across 93 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over 12 states and Union Territories.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, several regional offices will be closed on May 7th in cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Panaji, and Raipur due to the elections. This move aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
In Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, banks will remain closed in specific cities and towns. These closures are aimed at ensuring that citizens can actively participate in the democratic process without disruptions.
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in seven phases across the nation. The first two phases have already taken place on April 19th and April 26th, respectively. The upcoming third phase on May 7th marks another significant step in this democratic exercise.

More than 1,300 candidates, including approximately 120 women, are vying for victory in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Among these candidates, several prominent figures are contesting, whose electoral fate will be decided by the voters.
Union ministers such as Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna, and Mansukh Mandaviya from Porbandar are among the big names contesting in this phase.
In addition, Parshottam Rupala from Rajkot, Pralhad Joshi from Dharwad, and SP Singh Baghel from Agra are also seeking reelection.
Other notable contenders include Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha, Digvijaya Singh from Rajgarh, Supriya Sule from Baramati, and Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri.
