Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Goa Records 44.67 %, 49.27%, 49.04 % Votes Turnout Till 1 PM

Today marks the initiation of the third phase of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, encompassing 93 constituencies spread across 11 states and Union Territories. With more than 1,300 candidates vying for seats, including 120 women, this phase holds significant importance in shaping the political landscape of the nation.

As of 1 pm, a notable 40% voter turnout was recorded across the participating regions, comprising 26 seats in Gujarat, 14 in Karnataka, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Assam, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Goa, and 2 in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

The Lok Sabha elections span seven phases, commencing from April 19 and concluding on June 1. The eagerly awaited counting of votes is scheduled for June 4, where the fate of numerous candidates and the direction of the nation will be determined.

Madhya Pradesh recorded 44.67 voter turnout till 1 pm in the third phase of polling for nine parliamentary seats in the state, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India. Nine parliamentary seats- Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh and Betul- are undergoing polling in the third phase of LS polls on May 7 from 7 am in the state.

Of these, Rajgarh is leading the voter turnout charts with 52.60 % voting followed by Vidisha 50.46 %, Guna 49.93 %, Betul 48.26 %, Sagar 44.32 %, Gwalior 41.18 %, Bhopal 40.41 %, Morena 39.24 % and Bhind 37.37 % till 1 pm so far in the state.

Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh are being conducted in four phases. The first phase of polling was held on April 19 and the second phase was concluded on April 26.
The fourth, which is the last phase of LS polls in the state, will be held on May 13. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.

West Bengal is still leading the voter turnout at 49.27 % while Goa, is inching closer to it at 49.04 % voter turnout till 1 pm, as per the data provided by the Election Commission of India.

Chhattisgarh is also witnessing a high voter turnout of 46.14 %. Maharashtra has the lowest turnout till 1 pm at 31.55 %.  Voting percentages for other states participating in the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls as of 11 am are– Assam–45.88 %, Bihar–36.69 %, Gujarat–37.83 %, Karnataka–41.59 %, Madhya Pradesh–44.67 % and Uttar Pradesh–38.12 %.

Union Territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu recorded 39.94 % voter turnout till 1 pm.  Meanwhile, in this phase, more than 1300 candidates, including around 120 women, are in the fray. A total of 17.24 crore voters are eligible to cast their franchise in this phase at 1.85 lakh polling stations.
