Recently, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of Bharat has voiced its concerns regarding the handling of the case involving the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Despite the arrests of three individuals allegedly connected to the incident, the MEA has stated that there has been no formal communication from Canada regarding the matter.
According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the Canadian authorities have not provided any specific or relevant evidence to support the case. This lack of cooperation has led to accusations of prejudgment and raised suspicions of political motives influencing the investigation.

Moreover, the MEA has expressed apprehension over Canada’s perceived tolerance towards separatists, extremists, and individuals advocating violence. Allegations have been made that Bharatiya diplomats in Canada face threats and obstruction in carrying out their duties, indicating a broader diplomatic concern between the two countries.
The MEA spokesperson emphasized another issue concerning the presence of individuals associated with organized crime and with links to Bharat who have been allowed entry and residency in Canada. In addition, extradition requests from Bharat have reportedly gone unanswered, further straining diplomatic relations between the two nations.
This isn’t the first time Bharat has accused Canada of providing political space to extremists. Recent comments by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar have been met with rejection by Bharat.
The MEA spokesperson reiterated Bharat’s stance, emphasizing the perceived leniency towards separatism, extremism, and violence within Canada.

The case in question involves the charging of three individuals with first-degree murder and conspiracy in connection to the shooting death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. It’s worth noting that in 2023, the Canadian Prime Minister suggested an Bharatiya involvement in the killing, a claim vehemently denied by the Bharatiya Foreign Ministry as “absurd and motivated.”
As discussions continue at the diplomatic level between Bharat and Canada, the handling of the Hardeep Singh Nijjar case remains a point of contention, reflecting broader tensions and concerns surrounding bilateral relations.
