Today marks the commencement of the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, slated for May 13, 2024. This phase encompasses 96 seats spread across 10 states and union territories, presenting a significant milestone in India’s democratic process.
Notably, all 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh and 17 constituencies in Telangana are up for grabs, drawing the attention of political contenders and voters alike. Furthermore, 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, 8 in West Bengal, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, and 5 each in Bihar and Jharkhand are in contention. Additionally, Odisha and Jammu and Kashmir contribute 4 and 1 seat respectively to this phase of the elections.
In Andhra Pradesh, constituencies such as Araku (ST), Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur witness active electoral participation. Bihar offers constituencies like Darbhanga and Begusarai, while Jammu & Kashmir presents Srinagar as its lone constituency.
Madhya Pradesh features Dewas, Indore, and Khargone, while Maharashtra adds Aurangabad and Pune to the list. Odisha contributes Koraput and Berhampur, and Telangana includes Hyderabad and Warangal among others. Uttar Pradesh participates with constituencies like Unnao and Kanpur, and West Bengal presents Asansol and Birbhum.
This phase sees the entry of notable contenders such as Madhavi Latha from Hyderabad, Telangana, and Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Bihar. Shatrughan Sinha contests from Asansol, West Bengal, alongside Yusuf Pathan and Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary from Baharampur.
Following this phase, subsequent rounds of voting are scheduled for May 20, May 25, and June 1, with the declaration of Lok Sabha election results set for June 4, three days after the final phase of voting.
