Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has alleged being assaulted inside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, has sparked controversy and drawn swift reactions from both political circles and law enforcement agencies.
As per the reports, Maliwal arrived at CM Kejriwal’s residence around 9 am, purportedly to meet him. However, she was allegedly denied entry by the Chief Minister’s personal staff. Following this, Maliwal made a distress call to the police control room at 9:31 am, which was later transferred to the North District control room at 9:34 am. In her call, she claimed to have been assaulted by an aide to the CM, Bibhav Kumar.
Delhi Police confirmed receiving two PCR calls from Maliwal’s number, detailing the assault. A team from the Civil Lines police station was dispatched to the CM’s residence in response to the call.
However, when advised to undergo a medico-legal check-up (MLC), Maliwal reportedly refused and left for the police station, where she intended to file a formal complaint.
AAP sources have labeled Maliwal’s allegations as false. However, Delhi Police has debunked this by confirming the receipt of the PCR calls. There has been no immediate response from either the Chief Minister’s residence or the AAP regarding the incident.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the incident, with senior leaders expressing shock and raising questions about the safety of women in Delhi. BJP leaders have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and have called for accountability from CM Kejriwal’s office.
The alleged assault on Swati Maliwal at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence has triggered a wave of reactions from various quarters.
While the AAP has dismissed the allegations, the BJP has demanded accountability and emphasized the need for ensuring the safety of women in the national capital. As the incident unfolds, investigations are expected to highlight on the truth behind the allegations.
