In a video released on Wednesday, President Biden has thrown down the gauntlet to former President Trump, challenging him to not one, but two debates before the upcoming presidential polls. The Biden campaign proposed one debate in June and another in September, with a vice presidential debate slated for July.
Biden didn’t hold back, reminding Trump of their previous encounters in 2020, where Biden claimed victory. Taking a jab at Trump’s ongoing criminal trial in New York, Biden remarked, “I hear you’re free on Wednesdays.”
Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate.
Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again.
Well, make my day, pal. pic.twitter.com/AkPmvs2q4u

Trump wasted no time in accepting the challenge, expressing readiness for the proposed debates and even suggesting additional ones in large venues. He criticized Biden’s policies, labeling him as the “WORST debater” and highlighting issues like immigration, inflation, and foreign policy.
Biden’s campaign laid out terms for the debates, including dates and venues after Biden’s return from the G7 Summit and Trump’s trial.
Crooked Joe Biden is the WORST debater I have ever faced – He can’t put two sentences together! Crooked is also the WORST President in the history of the United States, by far. It’s time for a debate so that he can explain to the American People his highly destructive Open Border…

They also specified preferences for debate hosts, opting for journalistic organizations over the Commission on Presidential Debates due to perceived biases and disruptions in past events.
The Biden camp demonstrated the need for one-on-one debates between the two main candidates, excluding independent contender Robert Kennedy Jr. They called for moderators chosen from regular personnel of broadcasting hosts to ensure impartiality and proposed measures to prevent interruptions.
Moreover, Biden and Trump’s microphones would only be active during their respective speaking times, aiming to maintain order and fairness in the debates.
Additionally, a recent poll indicates a shift in favor of Trump in crucial swing states. Despite months of campaigning by Biden, Trump appears to be gaining ground, particularly among young and non-white voters dissatisfied with Biden’s handling of the economy and foreign affairs.
As per the surveys conducted by the New York Times, Siena College, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, Trump is currently leading in five out of six key swing states: Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Biden holds the lead only in Wisconsin, a state that favored him in the previous elections.
These poll results suggest a challenging path ahead for Biden’s reelection bid, with Trump hoping for a second term propelled by support from swing states where he’s now in the lead.
