An accident occurred on the Agra-Jaipur National Highway near Haldeena village on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of at least five people and injuring twelve others. The incident took place around 2 pm when a speeding bus collided with a truck.
Mridul Kachhawa, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bharatpur, confirmed the casualty figures and provided preliminary details about the accident. As per the Kachhawa, the bus, operated by Uttar Pradesh Roadways, collided with the truck from behind. Initial investigations suggest that the bus driver’s negligence may have caused the accident.
“Today, around 2 pm, an accident took place on the National Highway which goes from Jaipur to Agra. An Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus collided with a truck from behind. Prima facie, from the facts that have come before the police, the fault was that of the bus driver. According to the information received till now, 5 people have died, and the remaining people are currently under treatment. The deceased people’s families have been informed,” Kachhawa said.
The victims of the crash were mostly from Uttar Pradesh, particularly from areas like Agra and Mathura. The injured were swiftly transported to the R. B. M. Hospital in Bharatpur for medical treatment. Authorities have reached out to the families of the deceased to inform them of the tragedy.
The district police are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover more details about the accident. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
In a separate incident earlier in the week, three members of the same family lost their lives, and several others were injured in a road accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway in Rajasthan’s Dausa. This accident occurred on Sunday when a car travelling from Ahmedabad to Haridwar was hit by a speeding truck near Bada village.
The victims, identified as Hasmukh Patel, his wife Seemaben, and Mohan Bhai, died on the spot. They had parked their car on the roadside after a cow appeared in front of their vehicle. While standing on the road, a truck rammed into them from behind, resulting in the fatalities.
Neelam Makwara, who was injured in the accident, mentioned that they were on their way to Haridwar to immerse her mother’s ashes. The injured have been admitted to Bandikui Sub District Hospital, where the bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary.
Duty Officer Jawan Singh added that the truck’s impact caused the deaths of the three family members, and the injured are receiving medical care. The police are continuing their investigation into this accident as well.
