As the funeral procession for late President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials began in Iran on Tuesday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar is visiting Iran today to pay last respects on the tragic demise of Raisi, FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials, who passed away in an unfortunate helicopter crash.
Processions were held on Wednesday morning in the city of Qom, considered the second most sacred city in Iran after Mashhad, where Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will lead prayers at a farewell ceremony. Raisi is then expected to be buried in his birthplace, Mashhad, on Thursday.

India on Tuesday observed state mourning, where the national tri-color flew at half-mast on all buildings, while no official entertainment was held throughout the day
Meanwhile, in Iran, supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei had on Monday announced five days of mourning, and a public holiday has been declared with offices closed all over the country.
Iran’s state media reported that Iran will elect its new president on June 28 to succeed Raisi. Currently, Mohammed Mukhber, the Vice President has presided over the office as Interim President.
As per Iran’s State Media Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh and representatives of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem also attended the funeral procession of Raisi and his entourage in Tehran
