In a ghastly car accident in the United States’ Georgia, three Indian students were killed, while two others were critically injured. According to the Alpharetta Police, speeding might have been the “primary factor in the deadly car crash”, however, a thorough investigation is underway. The tragic death of the three Indian students adds to the alarmingly, continuously growing string of deaths of Indian students in the US, of which most of the deaths occured under mysterious circumstances.
The accident occurred on Monday while driving along Westside Parkway, located north of Maxwell Road. Studying at the University of Georgia, the victims were identified as Aryan Joshi, Sriya Avasarala, and Anvi Sharma, while those injured, were Rithwak Somepalli, and Mohammed Liyakath.
Though police are investigating the reason behind the crash, initial data suggests that speed might have been the factor. The police officials stated that the speeding vehicle overturned and ended upside down in a tree line after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Aryan Joshi and Sriya Avasarala died on the spot at the accident site, whereas Anvi Sharma succumbed to injuries while being treated. While the injured students – Rithwak Somepalli and Mohammed Liyakath are currently being treated in Alpharetta.
Just last month, two Indian students from Telangana were killed in a multiple-vehicle collision near Lake Pleasant in Arizona. Identified as Nivesh Mukka and Goutham Kumar Parsi, both 19 years old, were killed when a car in which they were travelling collided head-on with another car in Peoria.
Pertinently, the number of deaths of Indian students in the US is continuously on the rise. Though the Joe Biden administration has stated that it would take action on the mysterious and sudden deaths of Indians, the administration has failed to take any stringent action.
