The Pune police on Thursday questioned the grandfather of a 17-year-old boy who allegedly crashed his Porsche Taycan into a motorcycle on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of two tech professionals from Madhya Pradesh. This interrogation is part of a broader investigation into the tragic incident.
In addition to questioning the grandfather, the police conducted a forensic examination of the vehicle, which is currently held at Yerawada police station. Technical evidence was gathered from the car, including GPS data and footage from the vehicle’s cameras. Authorities are also in the process of collecting CCTV footage along the route taken by the Porsche, from the teenager’s home to the Cosie restaurant, Blak Club, and the accident site.
“A team today conducted the examination of the car, which is in the possession of the Yerawada police station. We have already carried out the forensic examination of the spot and now the car has also been examined. The technical aspects such as GPS, the cameras around the car were examined,” a police officer told PTI.
Police also interrogated one of the teenager’s friends and the driver who were with him in the car at the time of the accident in Kalyani Nagar. The grandfather was questioned due to his involvement in the realty firm that owned the Porsche, while the friend’s account was sought to corroborate the sequence of events.
According to the investigation, the teenager had insisted on driving the high-performance car. The driver contacted the boy’s father, who permitted his son to drive. The police have seized the father’s phone to verify these details and might present the driver as a witness.
The accident claimed the lives of Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia, both young IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh. Following the incident, the teenager’s bail was revoked, and he was sent to a remand home. His father was arrested for allowing him to drive without a license, and the owners of two bars were detained for illegally serving alcohol to the minor.
Contradictory reports have emerged, with the teenager’s father claiming that the driver was at the wheel during the accident. The investigation continues as authorities seek to establish the facts surrounding the tragic event.
