Former President Ram Nath Kovind cast his vote in the national capital here today and appealed to the people to exercise their franchise for the “strengthening of democracy and for Viksit Bharat (developed nation).”

“We are proud to be the world’s largest democratic country. I want all the countrymen to cast their vote for the strengthening of democracy and for Viksit Bharat,” the former President said after casting his vote.

All seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the capital city of Delhi are undergoing polls today. These constituencies include New Delhi, North East Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, North West Delhi and Chandni Chowk.

Voting for the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections began on Saturday morning across 58 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security and arrangements.

The voting started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, with those in line by the closing time still allowed to vote.
As per the data provided by the Election Commission, West Bengal recorded a high voter turnout at 16.64 per cent till 9 am.

Uttar Pradesh also experienced a high voter turnout at 12.33 per cent. Voting percentages in other states where polling is underway in the sixth phase are– Bihar–9.66 per cent, Haryana–8.31 per cent, Jammu and Kashmir–8.89 per cent, Jharkhand–11.74 per cent, National Capital Territory of Delhi–8.94 per cent and Odisha–7.43 per cent. The NCT of Delhi recorded 8.94 per cent voter turnout till 9 am.
