In a troubling turn of events during the ongoing Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal, security personnel accompanying BJP candidate Pranat Tudu were reportedly attacked by supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
The incident occurred while Tudu and his security team were visiting a polling booth in Garbeta. This visit followed a complaint lodged by Tudu regarding alleged voter intimidation at the location.
A video capturing the incident depicts a mob hurling stones and chasing Tudu, his security detail, and several members of the media. In the face of the attack, Tudu’s security personnel acted swiftly to evacuate him safely from the area. Additionally, the BJP leader’s vehicle was vandalized amidst the chaos.
Tudu finds himself engaged in a three-way electoral battle, contesting against Kalipada Soren of the Trinamool Congress and Sonamani Tudu of the CPI(M). The political landscape in Jhargram is tense as the voting process unfolds in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Jhargram parliamentary constituency, situated within the West Medinipur and Purulia districts of West Bengal, remains a focal point of attention as voters exercise their democratic right amidst concerns of violence and intimidation. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and security of all citizens participating in the electoral process.
