Amid the chaos caused by Cyclone Remal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Alert on Tuesday, warning of potential thunderstorms with lightning in many districts of Tripura. This weather forecast covers the 24 hours from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning.
The IMD also provided temperature predictions, expecting maximum temperatures to reach around 33 °C and minimum temperatures to drop to around 26 °C. By 5:30 PM on Tuesday, the total recorded rainfall was 000.6 mm.
Cyclone Remal has caused significant devastation, claiming over 15 lives and injuring many others. The storm is expected to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over eastern Assam and surrounding regions by Tuesday evening, May 28.
In Assam, heavy rains and strong winds associated with Cyclone Remal have resulted in one fatality and 17 injuries, according to state officials. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority confirmed the death and noted that several districts are on high alert due to forecasts of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
