In an unfortunate incident near Sirhind railway station in Punjab, a collision between a goods train and a parked goods train resulted in injuries to two loco pilots on Sunday morning. The collision occurred around 4 am in the Madhopur area.
The injured loco pilots, identified as Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar, were promptly admitted to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital for medical attention, as reported by ANI. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, confirmed the local police.
A video shared by ANI depicted the aftermath of the collision, showing the damaged trains as officials worked to clear the debris strewn across the site. As a consequence of the collision, the movement of trains in the region has been disrupted.

Railway officials have initiated diversion measures for trains passing through Rajpura, Patiala, and Dhuri. Restoration efforts are currently underway to mitigate the impact of the incident on railway operations.
Railway Incidents Across the Nation Prompt Concern
This incident adds to a series of railway mishaps across the country. Earlier in the week, at Palghar railway station, six goods wagons and a brake and guard van derailed, potentially due to a rail fracture.
The incident occurred around 5 pm when a goods train carrying steel coils towards Mumbai derailed near the crossing point of the main rail line and loop line at Palghar railway station. Though no casualties were reported, the derailment significantly affected railway traffic between Surat and Mumbai.
Similarly, on Friday, four wagons of a goods train derailed near Kantabanji station in Sambalpur Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR), Odisha. The incident, which took place around 10.50 pm, resulted in disruption of train movement on both tracks.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this incident, although it underscores the need for enhanced safety measures across the railway network.
