Lakshadweep, the picturesque Bharatiya archipelago, has surged back into the spotlight following a decision by the Maldivian government to restrict entry for Israeli passport holders.
In response, the Israel embassy in Bharat has championed the appeal of Bharatiya beaches, extending a warm invitation to Israeli tourists to explore the nation’s coastal treasures, notably highlighting Lakshadweep alongside other popular destinations such as Goa, Andaman Nicobar, and Kerala.
The embassy’s proactive move follows Maldives’ recent cabinet decision to amend its laws, effectively barring Israeli citizens from entering the country amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The Maldivian foreign ministry underscored the decision, urging existing Israeli visitors to consider departure due to potential difficulties in providing assistance should any distress arise.
The Maldives, renowned for its stunning tropical vistas, has encountered a downturn in tourism fortunes earlier this year. In a notable incident, Bharatiya Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the serene shores of Lakshadweep sparked a contentious reaction from some Maldivian politicians, leading to a wave of anti-India sentiment on social media platforms.

Consequently, Bharatiya travelers began to reconsider Maldives as a holiday destination, prompting actions like EaseMyTrip, a prominent Bharatiya online travel agency, to temporarily suspend bookings for Maldivian vacations.

Nishant Pitti, the founder-CEO of EaseMyTrip, confirmed the decision, citing a halt in Maldives bookings since January 8, with an exception during a brief period between May 16-26, promptly rectified upon detection. The move reflects a broader sentiment within the Bharatiya tourism industry, signaling a shift away from Maldives in favor of alternative destinations like Lakshadweep, Goa, Andaman Nicobar, and Kerala, now championed by the Israel embassy for their hospitality and scenic splendor.
