The Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP-RV) has been promised one spot in the Union Cabinet. The party hopes they might also get an additional position as a state minister. An anonymous LJP-RV member mentioned, “We are assured of one berth. A minister of state would be a huge bonus.”
Paswan has refrained from commenting on the Cabinet decisions, stating that the final choice will be made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized his commitment to supporting Modi, saying, “I do not believe in the politics of bargaining and will continue to support Modi.”
Paswan praised his alliance with Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, highlighting their strong relationship within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “My chief minister Nitish Kumar stands firmly with the NDA. NDA stands united. Nitish Kumar has been crucial in our performance as an alliance. We have managed Bihar well, and Nitish Kumar has played a significant role,” Paswan remarked after meeting Kumar.

Paswan, who has described himself as Modi’s “Hanuman,” expressed his gratitude to the people for their support. “The people of Bihar have trusted our party and given us a mandate. We promise to fulfill our responsibilities. Modi showed his faith in a party with a single MP and gave us five seats, and we won all of them,” he stated.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to secure a majority on its own in the recent elections and will rely on its allies to form the next government. The NDA comfortably surpasses the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
However, this marks the first time since 2014 that the BJP has not reached the halfway mark independently. The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, on the other hand, secured 233 seats.
While LJP-RV is assured of a Cabinet position, they are optimistic about potentially gaining an additional state minister role. Paswan remains committed to supporting Modi and values his alliance with Nitish Kumar. The BJP’s reliance on allies signifies a shift in their usual majority, emphasizing the importance of coalition politics in the current scenario.
