Recently in an address to a gathering of RSS trainees, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), shed light on the pressing need to prioritize peace in Manipur, a state that has been grappling with unrest for the past year.
Speaking at the concluding program of the organization’s ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg- Dwitiya’ at the Dr. Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan in Nagpur, Bhagwat highlighted the importance of moving beyond election rhetoric to address the country’s challenges.
Bhagwat underscored Manipur’s longing for tranquility, noting a significant contrast from a decade ago when the region appeared to have overcome its history of violence. He lamented the resurgence of conflict in Manipur and urged for immediate attention to resolve the situation. “The situation in Manipur will have to be considered with priority. There is a need to get over election rhetoric and focus on problems facing the nation,” the RSS chief asserted.

During his address, Bhagwat also reflected on the electoral process, emphasizing its role in fostering consensus and providing a platform for presenting diverse viewpoints in Parliament. However, he criticized the prevalent practice of attacking opponents during election campaigns, the misuse of technology, and the proliferation of misinformation. Bhagwat suggested replacing the term “pratipaksh” (opposition) with “virodhi” to encourage more respectful discourse.
The RSS chief’s remarks come at a crucial juncture when various parts of the nation, including Manipur, grapple with internal conflicts and social unrest. Bhagwat’s call for prioritizing peace in Manipur reflects broader concerns about regional stability and the need for concerted efforts to address underlying issues.
Bhagwat’s address to RSS trainees underscores the organization’s commitment to fostering a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement among its members. By urging a shift away from divisive rhetoric and towards constructive dialogue, Bhagwat emphasizes the importance of collective action in addressing the country’s challenges and promoting harmony within diverse communities.
Bhagwat’s speech serves as a reminder of the critical role that organizations like the RSS can play in promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion across Bharat. His call for prioritizing peace in Manipur and focusing on national issues resonates with the broader imperative of addressing societal challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and concerted action.
