S. Jaishankar officially took charge as the External Affairs Minister today, following his retention by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his historic third term. Jaishankar, along with senior BJP leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Nitin Gadkari, continues to helm the ministries they managed in the previous administration.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also assumed his duties in Delhi.
The allocation of ministries was confirmed for the 71 ministers who were inducted into the Modi 3.0 government during a grand swearing-in ceremony on Sunday. Prime Minister Modi himself will oversee the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy, and the Department of Space.
New additions to the Union Cabinet include former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who now heads the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministries, and BJP President JP Nadda, who returns to the Health Ministry.
Malayalam actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi took on his new role as Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, as well as the Ministry of Tourism, describing it as a “huge responsibility.” He expressed gratitude to his constituents in Thrissur for their support, stating, “Thanks to the people of Kerala, Thrissur. You gave me this opportunity.”
Additionally, former Haryana Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar has been appointed as the Power Minister in the new Union Cabinet.
