Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for a fourth term at 11:27 AM on Wednesday. The ceremony will be held near Kesarapalli IT Park in Gannavaram, Krishna district.
Naidu was unanimously elected as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) Leader of the House during a meeting in Vijayawada on Tuesday, following the proposal by JanaSena Party chief K. Pawan Kalyan. Subsequently, leaders from the TDP, BJP, and JanaSena met Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to stake their claim to form the new government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other Union Ministers, including Jagat Prakash Nadda and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, are expected to attend the event. Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, along with JanaSena chief Pawan Kalyan and senior leader N. Manohar, are also likely to take the oath alongside Naidu. According to sources from the NDA, Kalyan has been offered the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Election Results:
The TDP, in alliance with Pawan Kalyan’s JSP and the BJP, secured a landslide victory in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, winning 164 out of 175 seats. The TDP won 135 seats, while the JSP and BJP secured 21 and 8 seats, respectively.
Policy Announcements:
Ahead of taking the oath, Naidu announced that Amaravati would be the capital of Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing the development of the entire state. “Amaravati will be the capital of our state. We will aim to develop the entire state, not just a few places,” Naidu declared at a meeting on Tuesday.
Response to Outgoing CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy:
Naidu took a swipe at the outgoing Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had proposed Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital and planned to take the oath there. Naidu highlighted the electorate’s rejection of Reddy’s decentralization plan by noting the defeat of YSRCP in Visakhapatnam. Reddy had proposed a model of decentralized development with Amaravati as the legislative capital, Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital, and Kurnool as the judicial capital.
