Following the grand swearing-in ceremony in Delhi that saw Narendra Modi return as Prime Minister for a record third term, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are set to welcome their new chief ministers on Wednesday. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the morning, while tribal leader Mohan Charan Majhi will take oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha in the evening. Both events will feature a prominent presence of top BJP leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the delegation.
In Odisha, the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate Mohan Charan Majhi is slated for the evening. Majhi, a four-time MLA, was chosen as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Tuesday. At 52 years old, Majhi is a significant tribal leader in the coastal state. His deputies will include Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida. The ceremony is expected to be attended by key BJP figures, underscoring the party’s strong presence and support in the region.
Mohan Charan Majhi’s elevation to Chief Minister marks a notable moment for Odisha, as he brings extensive legislative experience and a commitment to addressing the needs of the state’s tribal communities. His leadership is anticipated to focus on inclusive development and addressing regional disparities.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu will take oath at 11:27 AM near Medha IT Park, opposite Gannavaram Airport in Kesarapalli, on the outskirts of Vijayawada. Alongside Naidu, other leaders, including actor-turned-politician and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, who is likely to be appointed Deputy Chief Minister, are expected to be sworn in.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also attend Naidu’s swearing-in ceremony. Shah, who arrived in the state on Tuesday night, met Naidu at his residence to congratulate him. Other notable attendees include Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The ceremony will also be graced by top South Indian movie stars, including Megastar Chiranjeevi, his son actor Ram Charan, Rajinikanth, and Mohan Babu. Allu Arjun, the nephew of Pawan Kalyan, and Jr NTR, the nephew of Chandrababu Naidu, have also been invited.
This will be Chandrababu Naidu’s fourth term as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. In the recently concluded state elections, Naidu led his Telugu Desam Party to a significant victory, securing 135 of the 175 Assembly seats. TDP’s allies Janasena and BJP won 21 and 8 seats, respectively.
