Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Italy on Thursday to attend the 50th G7 Summit. This trip marks Modi’s first overseas visit since starting his third consecutive term as Prime Minister of Bharat. During his visit, he will also have a bilateral meeting with Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The invitation for the visit came from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra announced that Modi will be traveling to Apulia, Italy, to participate in the G7 Summit on June 14. Bharat has been invited as an Outreach Country for this summit. This participation marks Bharat’s 11th involvement in a G7 Summit and the fifth consecutive one attended by Modi.
Engagement with Global Leaders
Kwatra emphasized that this visit provides Modi with a chance to engage with other global leaders present at the G7 Summit on important issues for both India and the Global South. This meeting also allows for a follow-up on the outcomes of the G20 Summit, which was held under Bharat’s presidency last year. Modi’s participation will be especially significant in discussing matters important to developing countries.
