In a decisive move, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena sanctioned the prosecution of infamous author Arundhati Roy under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a 2010 case for her provocative remarks on Jammu and Kashmir. Pertinently, Roy was also known to be a close aide of Terrorist Yasin Malik, who was involved in the killing of 4 IAF officers and together both were part of the ‘Anti-Hindu’ and the ‘Kashmir Separation Movement’. She also supported Afzal Guru, the prime accused of the 2001 Parliament Attack.
Meanwhile, the INDI Alliance came out in support of the infamous author, highlighting that the Opposition supports Roy’s claims. Congress leader Hariprasad BK claimed that the approval for the prosecution is an “assault on free expression & democratic values”. Nevertheless, the BJP hit out at the Congress for allegedly being empathetic towards “separatist and terrorist organizations”. Byte: Video 2:—– Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP National Spokesperson,
A complaint was filed accusing Roy of propagating the separation of Kashmir from India at the “Azadi – The Only Way” conference in 2010 where she claimed that “Jammu and Kashmir is not an integral part of India, and it never was.”
The complainant, also a Kashmiri activist strongly criticized the remarks made by Arundhati Roy. Byte: Video 1- full Arundhati Roy, Author

Alongside Roy, the former professor at the Central University of Kashmir, Sheikh Showkat Hussain, will also face prosecution under the UAPA, as per the reports.
