Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi visited the ancient ruins of Nalanda, a UNESCO world heritage site located in Rajgir. The ruins of Nalanda are famed for their archaeological remains, consisting of stupas, shrines, viharas (residential and educational buildings), and intricate artworks in stucco, stone, and metal.

Elaborate security arrangements were put in place for the Prime Minister’s visit to the historical site. During his visit, he received a briefing about the ancient ruins from Gautami Bhattacharya, Superintending Archaeologist of the ASI Patna Circle.

Ahead of his visit to Nalanda, Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement about the occasion in a social media post, saying, “It’s a very special day for our education sector. The new campus of the Nalanda University would be inaugurated at Rajgir. Nalanda has a strong connect with our glorious past. This university will surely go a long way in catering to the educational needs of the youth.”
