Several people are feared trapped after a hotel building collapsed in Kodagu’s Gonikoppa town on Thursday.
Fire brigade and rescue teams have been rushed to the spot. Efforts are being made to bring out the trapped people.
As per the media reports, nine people have been pulled from the debris of the Ambur Biriyani hotel. Hotel owner, Tirumurugan, his wife Alamelu, their son Narayana, and a worker named Malinga are among those rescued. A person named Madhu, who sustained a leg fracture, has been admitted to Gonikoppa hospital.
Another individual with a head injury has been transferred to a hospital in Mysuru, according to the media reports.
As per the hotel owner, most people managed to escape when the building started to collapse, and the remaining trapped individuals were later rescued.
