The Union Health Ministry has announced the postponement of the NEET-PG entrance examination, originally scheduled for June 23, 2024, citing recent allegations regarding the integrity of competitive exams. This decision follows the need for a thorough assessment of the examination processes by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

In a statement, the ministry expressed its regret for any inconvenience caused to students but emphasized that this precautionary measure aims to maintain the sanctity of the examination process. “The fresh date for the NEET-PG examination will be notified at the earliest,” the ministry assured.
The postponement of NEET-PG marks the third competitive test to be canceled or deferred within three days. On Thursday, the UGC-NET examination, crucial for determining eligibility for assistant professorships and PhD admissions, was canceled following allegations of a paper leak on the darknet. Subsequently, the National Testing Agency (NTA) deferred the CSIR UGC-NET examination due to logistical issues, although there was no leak involved.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the severity of the situation, noting the significant breaches in exam security. The NEET-UG, conducted on May 5 with around 24 lakh candidates, also faced allegations of question paper leaks in Bihar and other irregularities.
The ministry’s swift actions underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring the fairness and integrity of national examinations, aiming to rebuild trust in the system.
