PM Modi noted that Om Birla’s re-election sets a record, paralleling the accomplishment of Balram Jakhar. He emphasized Birla’s parliamentary-style as exemplary, expected to inspire young MPs. Reflecting on the 17th Lok Sabha’s contributions, PM Modi credited Birla’s chairmanship for crucial legislative achievements that shaped India’s future direction.
Under Birla’s leadership, the 17th Lok Sabha witnessed the passage of significant legislation, including bills on women’s rights, consumer protection, and digital data protection. PM Modi underscored these laws as foundational for India’s progress. He also commended Birla for achieving the highest parliamentary productivity in 25 years, reaching 97%, during his tenure.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, PM Modi highlighted Birla’s proactive measures in maintaining parliamentary activities without interruption. He praised Birla’s outreach to MPs, ensuring their well-being during challenging times and maintaining high legislative productivity, which drew global attention.
