Yemen’s Houthi militant group announced that they carried out four military operations targeting ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and the Indian Ocean. The group claims the ships are connected to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel.

In the first operation, the Houthis targeted an Israeli ship named MSC Unific in the Arabian Sea. Yahya Sarea, the spokesperson for the Yemeni group, stated this during a press conference.

In the second operation, a US oil tanker named Delonix was attacked in the Red Sea. This is the second time this week that the Delonix has been targeted, according to Sarea.

The third operation involved an attack on a UK landing ship called Anvil Point in the Indian Ocean.

In the fourth operation, the Houthis targeted a ship in the Mediterranean Sea. The spokesperson identified this ship as the Lucky Sailor.

The Iran-aligned Houthi militant group has been launching drone and missile strikes in major shipping lanes since November. They have declared that these attacks are a show of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The Houthis have increased their forces operations in response to the ongoing conflict and to send a message of support.

Reuters, a major news agency, has not been able to independently verify the Houthis’ claims about the attacks. The details provided by the Houthi spokesperson have yet to be confirmed by other sources.

The Houthis are a significant force in Yemen, controlling a large part of the country. They are backed by Iran and have been involved in the Yemeni civil war for several years. Their recent attacks on international shipping lanes have raised concerns about the security of these routes.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation. Attacks on shipping lanes are a serious concern as they can disrupt global trade and escalate tensions in already volatile regions.

The Houthis’ recent claims of attacking ships connected to the US, UK, and Israel highlight the group’s continued military activity and its impact on international maritime security. As the situation develops, verification of these claims and responses from the targeted countries will be crucial.
