BJP stalwart and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi after his health deteriorated. The senior saffron party leader was shifted to emergency at Apollo Hospital situated at Mathura Road.
Advani is under the observation of Dr Vinit Suri. His condition is said to be stable, Apollo Hospital said in a statement.
This comes days after the 96-year-old former deputy prime minister was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a night-long stay there.
‘Advani is stable and under observation. He has been admitted under Dr Vinit Suri, senior consultant, Neurology’, a hospital source said, adding that he was admitted around 9 pm. The details of Advani’s ailment were not known immediately.
The 96-year-old veteran leader was evaluated by a team of doctors from different specialities including urology, cardiology and geriatric medicine.
Born in Karachi (present-day Pakistan) on November 8, 1927, LK Advani was recently conferred with Bharat Ratna by President Draupadi Murmu on March 30, 2024.
Advani started his political journey by joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a swayamsevak in 1942. He began his parliamentary career in 1970 when he was elected to the Rajya Sabha. He contested his first Lok Sabha election in 1989 from New Delhi, defeating Mohini Giri.
