The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in its investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak, announcing fresh arrests on Tuesday. Sunny Kumar, a NEET-UG candidate from Nalanda, and Ranjit Kumar from Gaya, father of Sunny Kumar, were among those detained, bringing the total number of arrests to 11, according to officials.
In Bihar alone, the CBI has arrested eight individuals linked to the NEET-UG paper leak and has made additional arrests in Gujarat’s Latur and Godhra, as well as in Dehradun for alleged involvement in broader conspiracies related to the examination.
The CBI’s probe, now spanning multiple states, involves six FIRs addressing various aspects of the alleged irregularities. The Bihar FIR focuses on the paper leak, while cases from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra deal with impersonation and cheating incidents.
The agency initiated its investigation following a reference from the Union Education Ministry, aiming for a comprehensive examination of the alleged malpractices.
